I suspect most users won't know the mobile app can be saved to the home screen and function offline.

 

A script like this

might be useful.

I'm worried about trying myself as not sure how will work if the user is on an Android device or BlackBerry Touch or webkit desktop browser.

Any plans to integrate this?
